Spread A Little Honey 'Round

Consider these thoughts about the things we have to say:
 \
"A wholesome tongue is a tree of life..." Proverbs 15:4
"A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver." Proverbs 25:11

"Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones." Proverbs 16:24
Here's something we can do to make a difference from the comforts of our home while shuffling about in our warm fuzzy slippers. You don't have to be a world-renown conference speaker to touch a life. Use your words - or God's Words - to be an encouragement. Send a card. If you're creative, make one.

Use your imagination! Make it a family project! Or do-it-yourself when you have some peace and quiet or while watching a movie.

If not, buy one. It doesn't have to be expensive. It's the message it carries that's important. I often save and reread special cards/notes. They're precious and can be an encouraging spirit-lifter time and again.

And don't just send them to your best friend or favorite aunt (though you can certainly do that too). But try to find someone who lives alone or maybe serves faithfully in the background without much notice. How about a widow or widower, a college student away from home, a single mom with kids, a missionary going through a rough time. Have your kids become pen-pals with a missionary family. There's so many things you can do! Jesus showed compassion and love to others. He noticed the blind man on the side of the road, the lame man by the pool. He stopped for the woman who touched His robe. And He wants us to do the same.

“Christians are like the several flowers in a garden that have each of them the dew of heaven, which, being shaken with the wind, they let fall at each other's roots, whereby they are jointly nourished, and become nourishers of each other.”  - John Bunyan
