Don't Slam the Door!

A few years ago, God called me to work with Deaf people. Recently, I developed a sort of philosophy using the acronym D.E.A.F.:

• D-etermine to do God's will
• E-xpect God to do His part
• A-cknowledge Him in every area
• F-ollow through - Just Do It!

When God gives you an open door, determine to always walk through. So many things can turn us away - insecurity regarding abilities, fear of the results, dislike of the task, or just plain stubbornness. A friend once shared with me something she had read - "Never take advice from your fears". That has often come to mind when God is asking me to do something that, to me, feels "extreme". We should never turn down an opportunity God gives. Recently, God offered me an open door, and I turned it down. Now, instead of staying down, I must make a decision to "follow through" the next time opportunity arises. None of us are perfect; we all have times of failure. Proverbs 24:16 says, "...a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again:".
